Thread: Mice and Mystics:: General:: Mice & Mystics as an adversarial game

I'm curious if anyone has tried out M&M as a competitive/adversarial game. Our family has been playing thus far as a purely cooperative game, as intended, but my youngest son is really much more eager to play the "bad guys" than the heroes.

Thinking it over in a very cursory way, I can't come up with a reason why this wouldn't work. The enemies all have movement values and attack ratings, and we could just ditch the auto-movement rules and allow normal movement in whatever fashion he desires (while still observing individual story restrictions--e.g., the roaches on the table in the kitchen in Ch.1). We've only played the first chapter, though, so I could imagine that there might be some hitches with whatever might come next in later chapters. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Also, any opinions on whether this would make the game much more difficult?

I've been very surprised, but my son just isn't very invested in the game as-is. He needs some direct conflict with other players to keep him involved, so this might help "save" the game for us. Playing as the baddies sounds dull to me, but it's enticing to him.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
