Have you guys ever thought of putting a 3 on one side of the cheese tokens similar to what Summoner Wars does for damage tokens? This should instantly fix the lack of cheese tokens issue and be of minimal effort to get implemented.
And get far more of an answer than you were expecting:

You know we did consider this but early on the mice were allowed to keep cheese between chapters. having the 3 on the token made it confusing. Also, none of our testers ever ran out of cheese. I still have never run out during play. Not a single time.
But that's not all. I plan on allowing mice to keep cheese between chapters in the future forest expansion. The mice are going to be out in the wilds with other forest creatures. There will be an economy of sorts, and settlements. Mice can do a variety of things in the main settlement like: They can hire a tracker before going on a mission, they can gamble, visit the local pub, and also rest up at the inn. They can also get robbed, or end up in a fight.
After you finish a chapter, you might not be at a settlement. You'll want to save your cheese. Most of us place our character in a plastic Baggie after a chapter, then we place that characters search cards, ability cards, cheese tokens, initiative card, and anything else that character has, such as a pet like Meeps. It's just easier if that is done with the current cheese tokens.
Hope I explained things adequately. I do plan on asking for more cheese markers to be added in the forest expansion.

What I like most about this bit of news is that expansions simply won't be just more adventures, but the world that the mice live in is actually being more fleshed out into a living breathing universe.
