I was inspired by

and his vertical story control board

to finally make my own.

I have been planning to make one for a couple of years and the end result is a bit different from my initial concept.

I originally thought it would be almost entirely magnetic on the front with flex steel inserted into the initiative cards, etc. to stick. This didn't work too well for the cards, so I ditched that plan and went with slots.
I also ditched plans to make the whole thing a dice tower in the back as it wasn't convenient for anyone not adjacent to the control board.

The clock face, initiative numbers, pendulum/party item area, and page numbers are all printed card stock coated with mod podge, then glued to the board and protected more when I did polyurethane coats over the whole thing.

Here's the board with some Glorm cards, plus the holders for search deck and discards, hearts and cheese, and unused ability and initiative cards.

I can put two encounter cards side by side in the slot for those chapters that need it, and the slot is deep enough to hold the entire card deck.
The initiative slots are deep enough to hold hearts for wounds and cheese for those chapters that require it.

The backside is storage for the wounds, numbered cheese (again for special chapters), and all the party items.

Finally, here's a comparison shot with the original story control board.

I also have to thank

for his amazing cheese wheel and other 3d items!
