I'm a painted figure fan and I didn't want to play the game until I had the figures finished and I finally got them done.

Though I love painted figs, I don't have the time or desire to spend alot of time painting them. So, except for a bit of drybrushing, all the figs were simply painted with blocks of colors, a layer of Minwax Polyshades "Tudor" to shade (sometimes called a "dip" though I brush it on) and then some matte varnish. Fast and easy. The "dip" does all the work shading and washing and even creates a false highlight as it settles away from edges.

... and a few examples below. The other thing that I think can make minis look great is good basing. I rebased them on regular plastic bases with Death Ray Designs card base toppers. The results are pretty good and it's remarkably cheap. I only wish my matte varnish had dried a bit flatter.

3 of the 6 heroes.

I did a bit of conversion work on the 6 rats also courtesy of a bag of random GW skaven bits picked up locally.
